VIS Team researcher participates in Biometrics Winter School in China

From January 12 through the 16, Miguel Leão, a VIS Team researcher has participated in the IAPR/IEEE Winter School on Biometrics 2025, held in Shenzhen, China. The event was organized by the IEEE Biometrics Council and the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR), and has brought together leading experts and emerging researchers in biometrics and pattern recognition.

The Winter School featured lectures and workshops led by renowned professors, including Rama Chellappa (Johns Hopkins University), Matteo Ferrara (University of Bologna), Josef Kittler (University of Surrey), Xiaoming Liu (Michigan State University), and Sébastien Marcel (IDIAP Research Institute). Local organization was coordinated by Hong Kong Baptist University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and SUSTech, ensuring a robust academic environment. Topics spanned biometric technologies, AI integration, and security challenges, providing participants with both theoretical insights and practical knowledge.
