Best Paper Award @ICPRAM 2025

José Silva, a PhD student at ISR-UC (VisTeam), has been awarded the Best Paper Award at the 14th International Conference on Pattern Recognition Applications and Methods. His paper, entitled “Towards Secure Biometric Solutions: Enhancing Facial Recognition While Protecting User Data”, stood out for its innovative approach to addressing privacy and security challenges in biometric systems.

The research, with José Silva as primary author had the contribution of Aniana Cruz (ISR-UC), under the supervision of Prof. Nuno Gonçalves (ISR-UC) and co-supervision of Prof. Bruno Sousa (CISUC). The award recognizes the exceptional quality and relevance of their work in advancing secure and privacy-preserving biometric technologies.
