Abstract

The UniqueMark project, developed between INCM and UC, between the end of 2016 and mid-2018, provided a proof of concept for the creation of unique assay markings for precious metal artefacts, either using the punching process or using laser marking process. The Pilot project, started in 2019, improved the algorithms created as part of the proof of concept, extending the possibilities for the type of laser marking designs and improving the minutiae extraction algorithms, both from laser and punch markings, making them those capable of searching these markings for verification or identification (in a database) in a timely manner.
